My work has so far focused on our relationship with the constructed. How these structures form both our physical architectural space and our psychological frameworks (that are formulated through our religious, socio-political, cultural and mythological structural heritages). I am interested in conversations of anthropocentric philosophy between the arts and other disciplines.
After graduating in Fine Art Sculpture from Norwich school of Art and Design in 2004, I went on to study drawing and teaching as well as continuing a small sculptural practice, receiving awards from both the Norwich Contemporary Arts Society and as a finalist in the Founders Prize for Sculpture.
I have been teaching for nearly 20 years from beginners to foundation and professional level. Teaching passionately about the use of visual observation and recording as a method for research, environmental understanding as well as for self-exploration and expression. While specialising in teaching and engaging 16-18 yr olds, I continued working across all ages, cultures and abilities. In support of these beliefs and ideas on the role of arts in cross community understanding, I have set up a sculpture meadow, many community arts engagement programmes and The Bank, a community arts centre in Eye, Suffolk, UK and was awarded a British Empire Medal for my work.
After my tenure at the arts centre, I moved to Barcelona to focus on the development of my own theories in the use of art. Initially attending the Studio arts programme at Metafora. Then running a programme of intensive drawing classes for international artists in collaboration with Life Drawing Barcelona and visiting school programmes with Barcelona Art Experience at MEAM. Finally becoming a resident artist at the fabulous Tangent Projects in L’Hospitalet.
